Google’s Latest Changes to Search Algorithm

Not sure if you heard, but recently Google did an update to their search algorithm. What this means is that they have adjusted how they look at websites and rank them in their search engine.

“Does this affect little me?”, you ask?  It most likely can!

The update that occurred is known as The Farmer/Panda update. It’s main focus seems to be that Google will now be focusing on ranking websites based on the quality of your website’s content, across the site. So, if you are paying short shrift to any of your pages in terms of content quality, quantity and depth, their crawlers will notice this and penalize your entire site’s ranking.

Yikes you say!  But never fear — this is actually a fantastic opportunity to review your site, clarify your message, and update and fill out any ‘weak’ content on your site.

Things to look for:

- not enough useful content
- badly written content
- stolen or copied content from other websites
- irrelevant content

Let me know if you’d like a review of your site’s content and how we can help you to update and improve your message and content.

Here’s a great article explaining the changes more in depth.
